Planted on our estate vineyard in 1997, this is the first-ever varietal bottling of our Mourvèdre. In Cedarville’s early vintages, this fruit played a quiet supporting role in blends, and from 2007 through 2022 we were proud to sell these grapes to our friends at La Clarine Farm.
A true late-ripening grape, Mourvèdre tested our patience in 2023. We harvested at 21 Brix—fully mature, and literally one day before autumn swept in and the vines let go of their leaves. Whole clusters were carefully sorted into half-ton bins for fermentation, then pressed into neutral French oak for a 21-month élevage. The wine was finished with a light filtration and bottled under Stelvin closure at a graceful 11.7% alcohol.
The result is bright, lively, and red-fruited —a wine that feels delightfully unpretentious yet quietly sophisticated. Refreshing with a slight chill, it’s a uniquely charming and distinctive expression of our vineyard.
