94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck / Virginie Boone "Inspired by a long-ago gun battle in the fair city of Fair Play, the 2022 The Rules of Fair Play is 62% Zinfandel and 38% Petite Sirah that is intended to reflect a pre-Prohibition field blend of days gone by and show the area’s dark, red-fruited side. The tannins are pretty fierce, needing more time to mellow, but the wine is lengthy and full-bodied, with dense, fleshy layers of Zin’s berry richness well-complemented by the floral and spicy notes of Petite Sirah. Toasted oak notes add further intrigue. This will probably drink best 2027-2037."  

My Notes: An homage to the historic vineyard blends of 19th-century California, this blend showcases quintessential Fair Play character.  With a nod to the granitic soils of our region, this wine honors the spirit of its Fair Play’s origin.  Bottled without filtration.
