Here is what the wine critics are saying about Cedarville Vineyard 1998 Syrah:

Wine Spectator, February 28, 2001
"1998 Cedarville Vineyard Syrah - 86 points. Round, with black currant, plum liqueur and game flavors supported by solid tannins. Drink now through 2004."

Wine Enthusiast Magazine, August 2000
"1998 Cedarville Vineyard Syrah - 87 points. A first release from this Sierra Foothills winery. Juicy and plump; very young. Has jammy, forward fruit; ripe, precocious and extracted. Dry, round, supple and balanced, with pretty tannins."

Randal Caporoso, "Vintages", Honolulu Advertiser July 5, 2000
"The joy of gatherings like the Hospice du Rhone is that you often find unexpected pleasures from virtually unknown producers, such as this totally new, tiny family estate located in the Sierra Foothills of ElDorado County. The Cedarville's sweet, juicy, luxuriously ripened Syrah aroma is the closest thing in California to the intensity regularly achieved by Australia's old-vine plantings; the wine's sumtuously round, dripping fruit sensations take the cake."

Laurie Daniel "On Wine", San Jose Mercury News  April 12, 2000
"One of the wines that really impressed me at the recent Rhone Rangers tasting in San Francisco was a 1998 syrah from Cedarville Vineyard. That syrah and a 1998 zinfandel, to be released in June, are the first wines from the El Dorado County winery, which is owned by Silicon Valley refugees Jonathan Lachs and Susan Marks...The aforementioned 1998 syrah is tangy and rich, with lovely blackberry and spice flavors, some black pepper and very good balance. Much of the Cedarville wine will be sold through a mailing list."
